This is "fun on two wheels. Yes my hybrid is lighter and handles better. Yes my comfort bike is more comfortable but this is the most fun I have ever had. Try one. I love the looks I get and I use it when I am trying out a trail for the first time. I can't wait for winter to arrive.
This is a really, really well designed fatbike. The handlebars are perfect, and the ride confidence inspiring. I've ridden this in the sand, mud and snow. What a blast. I love my Merlin road bike but when I'm on my Fatboy I'm grinning from ear to ear.
I have a Salsa Mukluk 2, as well, that is my long distance bike. It has a more comfortable riding prosition, the Fatboy has a very aggressive cockpit. The control is incredible in corners and all hills. The tires have a grip that is twice that of their Surly counterparts. The bike is so light, I can keep pace with anyone on trail (and even on road, which I ride often) I packed this bike up and rode it both up and down the mountains in Iceland, where normal tires couldn't take you. The low scores given are not what I've experienced from my 4 years riding fat bikes. I'm quite willing to let anyone not only try them on the trail while I wait, but many people have borrowed them for the week. Everyone I've loaned the bike to either comes back on the trail laughing and smiling at the ridiculously fun ride, or brings my bike back after a week with a Fatty of their own. These bikes are an absolute blast to ride. No one whose actually ridden on has had a bad thing to say about them. I have a feeling these bad reviews are simply traditionalists hating anything new. I mean, saying the bike is child size? That doesn't even make sense... The handlebars on a Fatbike are typcially a few inches longer to account for the extra forces from the tires and the sizes are standard bike sizes.
The first time I rode this bike, I was blown away by how much better it handled than the Surly Pugsley. Yeah, I know there are differences in the geometry but I prefered the Fat Boy because it handled so much like my MTB so I didn't have to worry about the wierd turning/leaning feel you get with the Pugs. It just felt predictable. The price is over $2k but with the light weight wheels, carbonfiber fork, wide tires, this bike rocked on dirt and in th ebitterly cold conditions of last Winter on the shores of Lake Michigan.
I've put on 250 miles so far and this bike climbs well. The negative reviews are inexperienced users. Ofcourse it will be noisy with tires that size. Love the bounce and workout you get. It's a great all road bike, not too fast but it's not a race. Sand, snow or mud, fantastic traction.
I have owned and ridden many fat bikes this one is a light weight nibble bike the next generation of fat bike IMHO
I am writing this for the comments above yes this bike is not the greatest handling bike but it is also not a road race bike. Know what you want before buying any bike this is a cruiser, it is not designed for long climbs fast raceing or offroad crosscountry. For what it is it is a good CRUISING bike, however it is very expensive.

this is a child size bike,aimed for sale at the adult market.an adult cannot ride this bike without changing handlebars.the bike does not pedal easy.the bike is very noisey when pedaling.the seat is too wide.since it is special order only there is no way to test ride one of these.buyer beware.
